The 1st High Criminal Court (1st Ağır Ceza Mahkemesi) is one of the most important courts in the Turkish judicial system, handling the most serious and severe crimes.

In each province and major district, High Criminal Courts are numbered, and the 1st High Criminal Court is responsible for the most critical and high-profile cases.


2. Who Is Tried in the 1st High Criminal Court?

The 1st High Criminal Court primarily handles individuals accused of committing serious crimes that pose a major threat to public order.

Individuals tried in the 1st High Criminal Court:

  • Murder suspects (premeditated or intentional homicide)
  • Terrorist organization members
  • Drug traffickers and smugglers
  • Individuals charged with crimes against the state (coup attempts, espionage)

Individuals NOT tried in the 1st High Criminal Court:
